The Brackendowns CPF operates in Three Sectors that are made up within the Brackenhurst, Brackendowns, Meyersdal, Mayberry Park, Alrode, Alrode South , Albertsdal and Thinasonke policing precinct and is run by volunteers who want to give back and make a positive difference to their communities.
The Brackendowns CPF is committed to serving the Brackendowns community through:
- The Brackendowns CPF, is a community-focused programme that forms part of the Brackendowns CPF. The Brackendowns CPF Guardians has an Incident Management Unit and a Neighbourhood Watch Patrollers Unit.
- Monthly community meetings, together with SAPS and EMPD Sector Commanders, Ward Councillors and security companies that operate in each area. These sessions are focused on information sharing and priority crime updates, as well as other safety, security and other relevant issues affecting Brackendowns. Feedback is provided from SAPS and EMPD Sector Commanders on incidents, suspicious vehicles and suspects. Crime trends and hot spots are identified and representatives of Residents Associations are tasked to feed this information back to their communities. All are welcome to attend the community meetings.
- Planning sessions with SAPS, EMPD and security companies, where crime hot spots are identified and cooperative crime-fighting initiatives are scheduled.
- Communicating crime trends, safety and security advice and relevant updates to the community via newsletters, media releases, WhatsApp groups, Facebook and the Brackendowns CPF website.
- Working together with the EMPD on by-law enforcement issues. By-law enforcement is a critical and essential component of community policing. Traffic violations; squatters, vagrants and illegal activities in Brackendowns; illegal dumping; illegal construction of shacks; non-documented persons; illegal billboards; and illegal employment practices are just some of the by-law infringement issues that are addressed.
- Strong cooperation and partnerships with SAPS, EMPD, City Parks, Ekhurleni and Gauteng Province, Ward Councillors, Residents Associations, road closures, businesses, churches and other organisations in Brackendowns.
